this course is for ceramics students and practising ceramicists with wheel-throwing experience who wish to learn to, or enhance, throwing with porcelain
POTTERY COURSE
a dedicated 5-week course to delve into the beauty of porcelain
we’ll go together through the process, with a strong focus on throwing and trimming
lesson 1 (2 hours)

in the first lesson you’re not going to keep any piece

introduction to spiral wedging
consolidating your skills on the wheel

wheel-throwing and forming

finishing your pieces (trimming)
preparing them for the bisque fire
Your pieces will be bisqued and you can take them with you after fired
in this course, we’ll go through the whole process of working with porcelain - from throwing on the wheel to finishing
you will learn to work on the wheel with better confidence and refine your forms through advanced trimming
we’ll explore sanding and polishing as an alternative to glazing, to highlight porcelain’s natural qualities and achieve a smooth, functional surface
along the way, we’ll also explore how to use pigments and how to mix them with porcelain
